About Us
Veshengro WoodWorks produces artisan-made spoons, stirring implements, spatulas and other wooden goods for daily use in the tradition of the Rom Polska (Polish Romani-Gypsies) by carver of Rom Polska heritage.
My name is Michael (my Romani-Gypsy name is Veshengro) and I am that carver of Rom Polska heritage and I learned the making of those products from a very early age.
All products are carved entirely by hand using just hand tools such as hatchet, straight knife, bent knife (spoon knife) and gouges. No machines or power tools are used.
As each and every items is handmade from a variety hardwoods each and every one is unique in color, texture as well, to some extent, in shape. Not one will ever be the same.
All wood is sustainably sourced from local municipal parks or from local arborists and this, together with the fact that they are handmade without the use of power tools, the carbon footprint of the products is very low.
The range includes the Rom Polska Stirring Wood (a spatula kind of stirring tool which is a multi-tasker in the kitchen), as well as traditional eating a serving spoons and other traditional, and non-traditional, wooden products.
The Rom Polska range includes designs from two Rom Polska groups, namely the Veshtike Rom and the Bergtike Rom, and some are different from each other.
While not traditional I also carve chopsticks in the Hokaido tradition of Japan and those will also be available from time to time.
While prices may appear high to some they do not even reflect the time, by hour rate, it takes to carve and finish the products.
For orders from outside the UK a separate PayPal invoice will be raised for the shipping costs. This has to be paid prior to shipping.
