Why eat with a wooden spoon?

Spoons made from wood, bamboo and horn were the first eating implements, after our hands, obviously.

Wood and bamboo are both antibacterial with wood, probably, scoring highest in that department.

While some people and especially some spoon carvers seem to believe that a bowl in a spoon the size of almost a flour scoop is require, in fact it is not.

Wooden spoon is also much better for the mouth, and especially the mouth of a child. Also wood does not transfer heat thus the spoon itself remains “cold” and will not burn lips, though hot food in the spoon still may.

As said above already, wood is antibacterial, but people tend to worry about the staining and that being a problem with regards to bacteria. Yes, wood does stain but all that is required to reduce some of it is wiping the spoon dry after each and every use. In fact washing wooden utensils and (even) eating spoons, is not (really) required. Bacteria will not live on a dry wooden surface.

If you do wash wooden utensils, however, only do so in hot water, by hand, using but a little dish soap, and do not immerse in the water. After washing immediately wipe the wooden utensil dry. On no account use a dishwasher.
